Bill's Belgian Medals
Samuel George Simpson

My father, Samuel George Simpson, passed away on 31st January 2003 at the age
of 80. He was a devoted family man and had fond memories of his service in the
Army, mainly as a motor cyclist dispatch rider, serving in North Africa with the
    First Army.
He then joined the Allied invasion of Italy and ended up in Austria at the close of
the war. However, he was seriously injured in Padua some months after the war
ended and spent a year in hospital recovering from severe injuries to his leg.

The illness and death of my father was a difficult time for all the
family, myself included. While designing this site about medals, I
thought it appropriate to display my father's medals, now passed
on to me for safe-keeping as his eldest son.

Those medals are shown below - I intend that they should be
remounted to show them at their best. The medals are the 1939-
45 Star, the Africa Star with First Army Bar, the Italy Star, the
Defence Medal and finally the War Medal.
