| Bill's Belgian Medals Medal Groups - Page 8 |
This is another interesting group of 13 WW1 and WW2 medals that belonged to August Van Snick who served with the 6th Regiment of Ligne during the Great War and was a volunteer soldier. He clearly had a distinguished career and was awarded the Croix de Guerre with Palm (mentioned in the Army Order of the Day), but was also awarded a gold lion and two bronze lions for mentions in Regimental Orders of the Day. However, he was also a resistance member during WW2, and received another Croix de Guerre with Leopold III Clasp and was a political prisoner who was imprisoned for over 2 and a half years. I have no information about this brave and distinguished individual who also was appointed as an officer in the French Legion d'Honneur, as well as Officer of three Belgian Orders. Can anyone provide any clues as to his history, especially with the Resistance movement during WW2? The group is displayed in detail below. |
