Above is a Great War and World War 2 group with an Officer (Military Division) and Legion d'Honneur. This individual earned a Croix de Guerre in both wars with an impressive number of mentions in dispatches. |
This photo features a classic WW2 group of medals to an officer who joined the Belgian Army as a regular soldier before 1934. He took part in the 18 day campaign in 1940 against the German Army and was wounded. He served in the Belgian armed resistance before escaping from Belgium for which he was awarded the Evader's Cross. He then served in the UK and Africa and, in addition to his Belgian African Service medal, he was also entitled to the British 1939-45 Star and the Africa Star. |
Another excellent group spanning World War 2 and the Korean War. It features a Officer (Military Division) of the Order of Leopold 1 with crossed swords and 1940-45 bar. The recipient was also awarded an Article 4 medal for bravery and a Croix de Guerre with a mention in dispatches. |
Above is an impressive group that includes an Officer and Knight of the Order of Leopold 1 - both with crossed swords and one with silver palm. |

My collection of Belgian Leopold 1 Medals understandably includes many examples of the order which are part of a group and examples of these are shown below. |
Another attractive group spanning both world wars and featuring a Commander (Military Division) of the Order of Leopold 1. It belonged to the Chaplain in Chief to the Belgian Army, Mr. le Chanoine Louis Kerremans who died in 1968. |
To the right is a Knight of the Order of Leopold 1 awarded to Mr. Pierre Renis - part of a group that includes a copy of his death card. |
