    Medals for Sale

The decision  to part with a  major medal group from my collection has been difficult. However, I have resigned
myself to the need to focus my collection. So here it is!!!!  It is an utterly fabulous group - and it is definately
    unique.

This remarkable group is mounted on an original ‘Death Pillow—a black cushion on which is laid out two groups
of medals, which I assume are brothers. Each group is very special in its own way.

When I found the group in Belgium, I was informed that the family probably acquired the black pillow to lay on the
coffin, first of one brother, and then of the other, when his time came.

The first group is very distinguished in that it comprises Officer grades of the Order of Leopold 1 (Military
Division), the Order of the Crown and the Order of Leopold II.

Then we have a very rare Croix de Guerre; it has one silver palm and 2 bronze palms - a total of 7 mentions in the
Army Order of the day, in addition, there are three lions - 3 mentions in the Regimental Order of the day.

The other medals include a Croix de Feu, a Civil Decoration 1914-18, First Class, a Victory Medal, a
Commemorative Medal 1914-18, a 100 Years Centenary of Belgian National Independence, and finally the scarce
    Liege medal.

The second group is also very special; his brother has a Knight of the Order of Leopold 1 (Military), a Civil
Decoration 1st Class, a Resistance medal (WWII), a Volunteer Medal WW1, a Victory medal, a Commemorative
Medal 1914-18, a Commemorative Medal with crossed swords WW2,

and the very rare Russian Order of St. George 1st Class for Bravery!

This superb family grouping of 18 very sought after medals for which I am looking for sensible offers
reflecting the value of a totally amazing group.
