Bill's Belgian Medals

The Policeman

This group of medals was bought at Wavre near Brussels and
appealed to me because it was a policeman's group. Some of
the medals were unusual but I recognised that it included a
lifesaving medal which would have had the individual's name
engraved on the reverse. In the event, the name was engraved
on two medals as can be seen below.

The first medal is the bronze medal of the Société Royale
Protectrice Des Animaux, Bruxelles, King Albert issue and is
    engraved Ch Bandelin.

Another interesting observation about this mounted group is
the presence of one gilt, three silver and one bronze medal -
Civil Decorations for Courage, Devotion and Humanity - one
supposes very much like commendations awarded to policemen
today.  One of the medals is an older and much smaller than the
    others.

Finally, there is also a very attractive enamel medal - "Tout pour
un Un pour tout" issued by the Federation Nationale Gerdarme.

A very nice group indeed to Ch. Bandelin.

This is the bronze medal of the Société Royale
Protectrice Des Animaux, Bruxelles, King Albert
issue and is also engraved Ch Bandelin.

This  is also a very attractive enamel medal - "Tout pour
un; Un pour tout" issued by the Federation Nationale
Gendarme.
