Despite a week in New York, the last few weeks have seen some interesting additions to my collection. However, they will need careful cataloguing and identifying. |
This medal is the " Cross for the political prisoner of the 1940- 1945 war " with bar holding 3 stars, each star for each of 6 months of prison and a mother's bar - a "black bar" for a posthumous award. This is the only Belgian medal which can have another bar or device together with a "mother's bar." Any other medal or order for a posthumous award can only have a mother's bar !! |
| Médaille des Victimes Civiles de la Première Guerre |
I have been informed that this medal with D and O is an unofficial medal for "Démineurs" in French or "Ontmijners" in Dutch, and would been awarded to military personnel in charge of removing mines, unexploded shells and other munitions. |
