    Commemorative Medal of the 100th
    Anniversary of the Ostende-Dover Line

This enameled cross was instituted on May
7, 1946 by the Prince Regent Charles to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of the
Ostende-Dover boat service. It was awarded
to employees and workmen of the shipping
line who, on 1 July 1946, had completed 25
years of good and loyal service.

Commemorative Decoration of the 50th
Anniversary of the Belgian Railroads

A great addition to my collection, this white enameled
cross was instituted on April 30, 1884 for award to
employees of  the Department of Public Works and the
Ministry of the Interior for a minimum of 25 years of
good and loyal service in the construction or
development of Belgium's railroads.

Soon after, on July 11, 1884, the medal was extended
to employees of the Belgian Railroads and employees
of the Railroad Department and even other
departments under the same conditions. On the same
day a bronze cross medal quite similar to the existing
decoration was created for railway workmen with 25
years of good and loyal service.

    Another scarce Belgian decoration and
welcome addition to my collection was this
gilt silver and white enamel cross was
created on February 27, 1896 for employees
of the Ostende-Dover Line who has served
for a minimum of 25 years providing good
    and loyal service.

Croix de Guerre 1954 (never issued )

    Médaille
    Associative de
    l'Ordre de la Croix
    Belge

This is a nice example of the Commemorative Medal of the 100th Anniversary of the
Telegraphic Services together with a certificate of issue.

This gilt cross was created on March 19, 1946 by the Prince Regent Charles to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of the first telegraph line exploitation in Belgium, on
    September 9, 1846.

It was awarded to employees and workmen of the Belgian Telephone and Telegraph Services
who had completed, on September 9, 1946, 25 years of good and loyal service.

I  recently acquired this very interesting group of Belgian medals from a colleague in Belgium. It sports
the Knight of the Order of Leopold 2, a World War I Croix de Guerre, a World War 2 Evader's Cross, an
officer's Military Cross (first class) for 25 years of good service (Leopold III version), a World War 1
Victory medal and finally, a British OBE.
