Bill's Belgian Medals

New Acquisitions

These two medals are an addition to my growing collection of Belgian lifesaving medals - both were
awarded to members of the same family during the reign of Leopold 2. The medal on the left is a gold
medal awarded to R.E.M. Bastin and the medal on the right to C.E.M. Bastin.

These medals - ordinary medal, commander with neck ribbon and a chest badge -are unknown to me and
appear to be from a veteran's organisation - the description was the Order of the Lion?
Can anyone help me identify it?

    This medal is the
    gold 1st Class Cross
    of the 1914-18 Civil
    Decoration.
